Drink to your brand’s success with promotional printed mugs

Thursday, July 26th, 2012

Every company wanting to promote their brand, increase their market share and basically try and win more work, will at some point need to consider different elements of the marketing mix.  It doesn’t matter what type of business you have, the fact is you need to come up with different methods of communicating to your target market and offering them a useful and practical item such as promotional printed mug is a great way not only to get your brand in front of them, but also keep it their by having them drinking from it every day!

Printed mugs are a fantastic promotional item and because they have been used for years it reinforces the fact that even today they still remain a great tool.  And even better is the fact that thanks to developments in printing technology, you can get them for a much lower unit cost, setup costs are loads cheaper, they are quicker to get turned around and you have so many options of mug styles and colours this is the only difficult thing about choosing to have this promotional item!

Gone are the days when you were faced with the choice of either a simple white sports mug or a more lady like china mug with a thinner handle….now you can opt for latte mugs, espresso cups, tall thin china mugs or even a soup mug with a spoon attached to the handle.  As well as mugs there are travel thermos type mugs and flasks which again so a great job in promoting your brand.

Things to consider when faced with this many choices is really who your target market are.  If you are aiming at a predominantly male workforce, then you will be looking for a larger mug, more akin to the style you think they would be happy to drink from.  If however you are aiming more at a female office worker then the soup mug option or the latte mug may be the better choice.  Design is key also.  Make sure that you communicate your brand strongly and effectively but at the same time this needs to be balanced with desirability.  Will the person you are giving it to really want it sitting on their desk all day?  Balance practicality, usability with aesthetics and you choice of promotional gift is guaranteed to do its job.

Wedding portrait canvas printing

Monday, July 23rd, 2012

If you are soon to be married and are considering all the little touches you can add to making the day special and creating keep sakes to remember the occasion, then a great new idea is having a canvas printed.

The typical thing that a lot of couples have done in the last few years, is to have a pre-wedding photo shoot, then choose one of the pictures to have printed and mounted, then they have it on display at their wedding for their guests to sign and give their best wishes.  Well how about a new modern twist on this, and instead of the picture and mount board, go for an enlarged print onto canvas instead!

Not only will it give you more of an impact on the day, but it’s a larger surface area for your guests to write on and by using black ink pens like Sharpies their messages will be more legible too.

We offer fantastic prices on a range of sizes and our inks are UV stable meaning your image can be displayed for years and resist the fading effects of the sun.  Give us a call for a quote for this great alternative.

Eye catching flyer design and print

Wednesday, July 18th, 2012

I’m sure you are more than aware that using flyers, leaflets and other promotional materials, can greatly enhance the awareness of your company.  Any business owner will have at some point at least considered undertaking a flyer campaign, if not actually embarked on doing one yet.  This is mainly because it is a traditional direct marketing technique that has proven successful for years.  Not only that but it is a very cost effective way to get your message across, even in this digital age.

Flyers are an extension of your business, they are a successful way to promote your services, products and key messaging, whether that’s moving premises, changing your telephone number, a new product launch, special offer or new service offering.  They are very versatile and easy to produce, and this is why ever business at some point will opt to do this, either as one off or on a regular basis.

One major thing to consider before embarking on this, is that your flyer needs to be eye catching and therefore you need to decide if you have the appropriate skill levels in house to be able to do this, it do you need to outsource, either to an independent graphic designer, or through the company who undertakes your flyer printing.  If you decide to do this yourself in-house, or indeed when briefing your designer you need to decide on a colour palette, this may be pre determined by your logo colours or associated colours that compliment your logo.  Consider what colours work well together and avoid at all costs clashing colour tone.  Don’t use too many different colours or font types, try to restrict this to two or three types maximum.  You also need to keep your message short and concise and where possible use images to break up and add interest to the flyer.

Make sure that your contact details or call to action is easily legible and understandable and if you have any special promotions be sure to make this stand out as a key selling point.  Again, if you are using a professional graphic design or print company to prepare your artwork for you they will understand all of this points and readily undertake this as a matter of fact in their designs anyway, but for the more amateur designer, these pointers should be digested and implemented.

I’m sure at some point yourself you have received a flyer through your door and wondered….’what is this company?’, or ‘how do I get in touch with them?’, or even ‘where is this company based and what are their opening hours?’.  Try and put yourself in the place of the customer and consider all the information they could possibly want to glean from reading this flyer, and make sure you arm them with it.  If you get both the messaging and design wrong, this will most likely lead to a poor rate of lead generation as most people will disregard and throw straight in the bin.  Another thing which will have an impact on how your flyer is received is the quality, finish and feel of your printed flyer.  If you have a black and white print onto coloured paper, manually chopped in half then this will have a significantly lower impact that if you opted for a full colour A5 full bleed flyer printed onto gloss or silk paper of a weight of at least 100gsm.

Think about this when deciding what would best represent your brand.  The prices for printing flyers these days is so cheap that it does not make any sense to produce anything other than excellent quality, standard sized full colour flyers.  Online print suppliers are so competitive and can give you great deals on this type of material, giving you attractive results that will make maximum impact on your target audience.

Quality printed colour leaflets are crucial for any business

Monday, July 16th, 2012

Its true to say that every business at some point will reply on some form of promotional activity to drum up some new business.  Whether it’s a mailshot, exhibition or trade show, or even handing them out in the street, printed leaflets are a means to communicate your service or product offering that can be very cost effective.

Whilst it is a traditional promotional tool, leaflet distribution is still a very effective means or communication and to make sure you give the right message to your customers or potential customers you need to make sure you procure quality colour leaflets printed to a high standard and finish, that will do your business justice.

It can be difficult to get the best quality service, the fastest turnaround, the cheapest delivery price, best finish, on the best paper type using the most up to date technology and machinery, all for the best and cheapest price.  What you need to do is decide which of these options you can afford to compromise on, and this will be dictated either by your budget or your brand values.

Whenever you decide to embark on any direct marketing campaign, with the rules these days and the pure amount of unsolicited mail that people receive on a daily basis, you have to make every effort to ensure you have preselected a target market group of individuals that would be happy to receive your leaflet.  Distributing on mass can be beneficial to some businesses but for others it can be detrimental.  This is something work considering and if in doubt it may be better to undertake a leaflet hand out campaign in addition to a mailshot.  If you pay for someone to stand in your local town or city centre and hand out your leaflets to passers by, they will either happily take one, or walk by and refuse.  At least you are not forcefully imparting your material on to someone who doesn’t actually want it.

Again whichever distribution channel you take, this will have an impact on the number of leaflets you actually need printing, which will in turn determine whether you go down the digital printing route, or the litho printing route.  Basically digital printing is traditionally used for short print runs on standard sized papers, litho is for larger print runs, often for multi-page brochures or more bespoke finishes.  Litho arguably produces the best quality print finish, but these days digital is a very close rival, so for something like leaflet printing the digital option is usually the preferred option for both price, fast turnaround and sufficient quality, plus most printers have digital printers and know that its bother easier for them and less bulky a piece of equipment as well, so their running costs and overheads are lower, allowing for a more competitive price on digital prints when compared with litho too.

Leaflet campaigns for businesses of all sizes

Thursday, July 12th, 2012

It doesn’t matter what size your business is, the use of flyers and leaflets remains one of the best ways to promote your services.  It also doesn’t matter is you are an established business, a new start up, or even if you work for a small local market or nationally across the UK.

Leaflet campaigns are by far the most cost effective promotional tool you can choose to employ in your marketing strategy.  They are a cheap solution to how to communicate your message to either a small target audience or through a mass marketing technique either by mailshot or leaflet insertion in your local newspaper.

With the growing concerns and rules over email, spam mass digital marketing techniques, you cannot beat a good traditional route to market with a quality leaflet printing service.  Without doubt this type of external communications can add value to your business, raise the profile of your brand and the services or products you are offering.  It can lead to an increased market share or better valued reputation and subsequently lead generation and new business.

Depending on what business you are in may need to run weekly or monthly promotions, and for this you need to ensure that you procure the services of a reputable and trusted print company.  You need them to be able to react fast when you want to take advantage of a niche promotion or something similar where you may need to get a flyer designed and printed within a couple of days.  Some online print companies can offer this service and excel at speedy quality turnaround times, you need to make sure you do your research and be aware that online print companies can be just as reactive and prompt as your local print shop, and typically for a lot less!

To help in your quest for your perfect design and print company you should talk to other people who has sourced these services and see what experiences they have had.  Not just turnaround times and prices, but also customer service, reacting to quick turnaround print jobs and run-ons.  Even what additional services they may offer which would strengthen their offering to you, perhaps they can personalise your flyers and mail them out for you for a fixed price?

When you have narrowed down your list of potential suppliers its best to keep in mind that the cheapest is not necessarily the best, as you know from most things in life, you pay for quality.  You need to know what your priorities are, if you literally want the cheapest solution and you are prepared to compromise on quality, then by all means go with the cheapest supplier.  If however, you have a strong brand and quality materials are more important to you, then make sure you have sampled some of their finishes and that you are prepared to pay a little more for a perfect result.

Obviously the more time you have to design, refine and produce your marketing materials the better.  At the end of the day marketing should be proactive not reactive, although as mentioned before, depending on what business you are in it may actually be your strategy to react to ‘whats hot’ and promote certain products when they are in favour with the public.   What ever your strategy, review these points when considering a quality printing company and hopefully you will make the right decision.

Choosing a suitable paper weight for your printed leaflets

Monday, July 9th, 2012

If you are looking to raise brand awareness and promote offers to your target markets, then without a doubt you will be looking to undertake a promotional direct marketing campaign.  This is a traditional form of marketing that is widely used in every business and can help generate new business and maintain your market share.

Designing and printing some leaflets is a very cost effective way of communicating your message, and get the basic right and you can enjoy a very successful direct mail campaign.  By the basics I am obviously referring to your message, your design and finally your formatting and media.  The word media is used to describe the weight of paper you opt to use and the finish you give the flyer as well.

When you are ordering your leaflets from an online printing company, you will be asked to select the style of leaflet you want printing.  This will typically be standard sizes universally used such as A4, A5 and A6, perhaps DL size….even A4 folded to A5 to give you 4 print faces?  You will also be asked which weight of paper stock you would like to use.  This can range from anything from 80gsm through to 350gsm, and just to clarify, gsm stands for ‘Grams per square metre’, which means the higher the gsm, the thicker/heavier the weight of paper.

It is very important to know what weight of paper you need your leaflet printing on, the last thing you want is to spend all that time designing and printing your leaflets only to find when you get them back from the printers you are disappointed at the look and feel…something that could have been so easily avoided if only you had known a few key points.

Thicker/heavier stock infers quality, durability and as such is more expensive for larger items and is usually reserved for business cards or perhaps covers on brochures.  The typical weight of a business card is 350gsm.

At the other end of the scale are 80gsm flyers that are usually the items found as inserts in your local newspaper.  80gsm is pretty thin, usually mass produced and distributed with an expected shelf life of just a few minutes…or however long it takes to read it.  As you would expect, this weight of paper is the cheapest option and typically when you see offers from print companies, the paper stock the offer is for would be this weight, unless stated otherwise.  This means that on the face of an offer, if 80gsm is not quality enough for you and your brand, then you can expect to pay almost twice the amount for a more middle of the road weight like 180gsm.

Along with the paper weights, you have the finish options.  These vary depending on the paper you select, you can have coated or uncoated, matt or silk or for the high quality, heavier weight items you can opt for gloss.  Just remember that if you are promoting the use of sustainable or recycled paper, you should not ruin this by adding on a varnish or coating as this can affect the ability to recycle after use.

How Printed T-Shirts can help your business

Thursday, July 5th, 2012

If you own a relatively small business, or even if you are running a larger company, your marketing budget is more than likely going to be restricted.  This means that you need to be very creative with how you invest that budget in order to get most return on investment.  Developing a strong brand and raising the awareness of your brand is key to generating new business and keeping your foothold in the market, be that on a national or global level or on a local level, the principals are the same.

Undertaking a variety of marketing tactics to promote your business can be very expensive, and one method of promoting a strong, consistent brand is start on your own doorstep…literally!  You need look no further than your own shop to find a way to communicate a strong and professional image to your customers, and these days a great way to do that is by using printed t-shirts.

T-shirts you say, and I say yes.  It is so simple it is often overlooked as an element of your advertising and promotional activity, yet it can be so effective.  You may think that printed t-shirts are just worn by people shouting about what band they like or what movies they love, you may also think that a simple t-shirt is not ‘corporate or ‘professional’ enough for use in a business environment.  Well I’m here to tell you that they are.  Despite their simple appearance, when dressing you staff in a well design and printed, quality t-shirt, you are giving a consistent and professional image to your company.

By using branded t-shirts as your corporate uniform you are automatically making your employees recognisable to your customers, who will have both an impact on their experience in your shop, as well as elevating their perception on your brand.  You have taken the time and care to make it easy for them to get advice or assistance from the staff in the shop, and you care enough to want to promote a professional environment which will increase the level of quality of service they will receive.

You are making sure that all of your staff looks clean and smart in appearance and instilling confidence in the customer that you have strong brand ethics and customer satisfaction.

Another element and use for printed t-shirts is that you can give them away to customer and potential customers to promote your business externally.  They make great giveaway items or even as part of a loyalty scheme.  Get your customers doing some PR and advertising for you by wearing your branded t-shirt, obviously to do this you must ensure firstly that the t-shirt is made of quality material and is professionally printed, then you need to ensure that the design is both eye catching, yet subtle or desirable for the customer to want to wear it, and finally that your brand is an ethical and positive brand that they are happy to support.
